Looking Back

Looking back over the past three weeks, we have accomplished so much! Literacy assessments are almost complete, Daily 5 is getting underway, International Dot Day and College Day have been celebrated, science clubhouse activities are getting ready to begin and Passion Project talk will be starting soon. So many new and exciting things to challenge and inspire the students in 2B. Looking forward to the year ahead!

First Week of School

Although I am extremely tired this evening, I wanted to take a minute to reflect on the great first week we had in 2B. We spent time getting to know our classmates along with all of the teachers in second grade, we wrote our personal learning manifestos and began looking deep inside to identify our passions and dreams for the future. What a great beginning to a wonderful, new school year. Enjoy your long weekend.

First Day of School

You know how there are some smells that just make you happy? One of those for me is a brand new box of Crayola crayons. I don't know how to describe it other than just pure waxy goodness! Today was like opening a new 24 count box of Crayola crayons. I had the pleasure of meeting 24 unique students each of which brought something special to add to our classroom. My goal this year is to serve as the "sharpener" of their minds as we learn together throughout the year.

Meet the Teacher Night

I am always amazed at the excitement that begins buzzing through the school on Meet the Teacher Night. As teachers waiting in our classrooms, you begin hearing the big, brown doors start shaking at around 4:45. It's like a crowd waiting to get inside for a concert by the most popular band in history. Then, the doors open at 5:00 and you can feel, hear and see the excitement as families fill the hallways.

Thank you to the wonderful 2B families for coming out. After getting to know you all, I am certain this is going to be a great year filled with learning. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with as we get the year started.

Welcome to 2B ...

I am excited to welcome each of my 2B family and friends to an exciting year in second grade! I will work to foster a love for learning in each child who enters my classroom door. This year we will be focusing on leadership and my role will be to work as a facilitator guiding your child to become a leader of their own learning. I look forward to getting to know and work with each of you throughout the course of the school year!
